Saxophone service tools and materials

I have been playing tenor saxophone for more than 30 years in a band. I have a Yamaha YTS-62 "Purple Logo" tenor saxophone year 1990.

As you know, saxophone needs periodical service and I have learned to make it. These are my tools and materials.



                          Butane torch for shellac heating
 
Petrol for moving parts cleaning
 
Push-down petrol dispenser is handy


Spring hook

Pipe cleaners for hinge tube cleaning

Replacement pads

Shellac for pad fixing. I melted flakes to sticks.


Anodized aluminum block for shellac smoothing on pads
 
Pliers, screwdrivers and other common tools
Tweezers, brush and cotton swabs



   Key oil for moving parts lubrication
 
Sharp spike for pad holding
 
Pad leveling rings
 
Leak light strip    





Cork assortments          
  
Carpet and surgeaon's knife
   
Contact adhesive for corks
 
Cork grease for neck cork     

You may also need the following
- Measuring caliper
- Dish wash liquid for cleaning of the body and other lacquered parts
- Felt material for specific places
- Special parallel pliers for
positioning key cups can be helpful
- If any spring has broken, spare spring and spring removal/install pliers might be needed
- In case tone holes are not smooth, leveling tools and suitable lacquer might be needed
- Vinegar or citric acid to clean mouthpiece
