JUMA PA Combiner JUMA PA Combiner is intended to combine two HF linear amplifiers to get double
power output.
Depending on your amplifiers power, you can get out legal power or even more. RF connectors on the top. Size 225 x 100 x 50 mm and the weight 0.7kg. The output connector can be PL259, N-type or BNC. Left view. 2 x PTT outputs, PTT in from transceiver, 12V/100mA DC input. JUMA PA Combiner right view with a small quiet fan for air outlet. JUMA PA Combiner is using low loss transmission line technique
in the
splitter, combiner and in the impedance transformers. The efficiency is
so good that
the typical power loss is almost negligible. The combiner is equipped
with
a small silent fan with one minute after run after PTT release to dispose
heat if
needed. The SWR of the input splitter and the output combiner is excellent.
Additionally the isolation between the amplifier ports are good as well.
The combiner has a build in protection which is following the
power dissipation in the 500W ballast resistor in the output combiner. If
the ballast resistor power exceeds 150W the two PTT out signals to amplifiers
will be disabled in few milliseconds. Thus if there is big power output
difference between the two amplifiers the protection will take care of any
mishap.
JUMA PA Combiner is designed for any
two linear amplifiers. It
has been demonstrated with total 2kW output power and higher power should
be ok as well.
Simplified connection drawing. Additionally combiner needs 12V/100mA and amplifiers need also band data from transceiver. Two JUMA PA1000 amplifiers can be remotely controlled with two JUMA Remote Windows clients Tested performance - Demonstrated amplifiers power handling capability 2 x 1kW, total 2kW out (or even more) - Demonstrated input splitter power handling capability 100W (50W to each amp) - Combiner ballast resistor peak power handling capability 500W - Protection threshold 150W in the ballast resistor - Amplifiers power output difference protection level 3dB (eg 1000W and 500W) - Splitter SWR better than 1.1:1 (to 50 ohm amplifiers input impedance) - Splitter ports isolation better than 35dB - Combiner SWR better that 1.1:1 (to 50 ohm antenna impedance) - Combiner ports isolation better than 25dB - Frequency range 1.8 MHz - 50 MHz - Frequency response flatness +-0.1dB - Attenuation in RX direction 0.1dB on HF and 0.2 dB on 50 MHz excluding the attenuation in the amplifiers Note. It is important that both of the amplifiers are tracking the transceiver
band. In case of JUMA PA1000 it is easy. You can connect the BCD
band data output from the main Amp1 DB9 connector to the slave Amp2
DB9 connector with a parallel BCD cable because main JUMA PA1000 amp is converting any band data
to BCD as output. Additionally in case of JUMA PA1000 only Amp1 PTT cable is
needed because the DB9 connectors provides PTT input also to the Amp2.
