JUMA PA1000 silent fan replacement instruction

Note:
This modification applies serial numbers older than 2023199

There are two fans in JUMA PA1000. Both are blowing backward. The left rear fan is for the power supply and the main LDMOS cooling fan is located in the front of the heatsink "wind tunnel". This replacement instruction is for the main fan only. The very silent fan type is Noctua NF-A6x25 FLX (12V). Noctua fans are amazingly silent and you can hear the big difference in the noise level.

Note that the fan replacement will void the warranty.

1. Open the top cover by following this instruction

2. Remove the 10 screws (marked with red circles) and carefully remove the front panel

3. Remove four (4) spacer studs marked with red circles

4. Remove carefully the control board by disconnecting the three flat cable connectors from main board.
Take care not to to fold the leds.

5. Locate the main fan in the front of the heatsink "wind tunnel". Remove the fan by unscrewing the four torx screws. Note, you need a long and thin torx driver shaft (max 3.5mm) to get access to the screws.

6. The main fan wires are soldered to the main board pads.

The main board pad holes are quite small and it is easier to connect the wires by cutting the old fan wires and soldering them to the new fan wires. Use heat shrink tubes like in this picture. Simply cut the new fan cable and remove the black sleeve. Connect only the red and black wires and leave the yellow fan tachometer wire unconnected.

Note1. Noctua fan comes with these "silent
adapters". They are just cables with series resistors. Do not use them, JUMA is controlling the fan speed.

Note2. Install the fan in correct orientation, air blow direction to the heatsink (direction is marked on the fan). You can position PA1000 vertically for easier fan installation.

Note 3. The second fan is the power supply fan which is a low power model. Normally it is quiet and doesn't need replacement.

After replacing the fan assemble the parts in reverse order. Align carefully
the front panel holes to the buttons and leds. And take care to reconnect the three flat cables correctly to the main board.

Additionally because the Noctua fan is 'sooo' silent you can adjust the FAN MAX RPM setting to lower temperature value for proactive cooling.

And follow the top cover reinstall instruction
